It’s that time of the year, our annual Kassy’s Kause Gala! The theme is, “Feeling the waves”. We request your support as we continue to bring awareness and education about Maternal Mental Health Disorders in our community.

Nearly 25% of women suffer from a Maternal Mental Health illness during and after pregnancy. Perinatal depression is the most common problem for new moms and if left untreated can have devastating effects.

Ray and Susan Aguayo lost a daughter, Kassandra (“Kassy”), due to this silent depression during her pregnancy. Her husband, family and provider did not have the knowledge to recognize her symptoms, and Kassy took her life at 4 months pregnant. Many people are unaware that Postpartum depression can start during pregnancy and can last up to a year or longer. Perinatal Depression is common, but because of the stigma surrounding mental health, there is a lack of discussion and information. Our goal is to educate our communities and to provide a source of support for mothers and their families.

Kassy’s Kause is a non -profit organization 501(c)3. We have gatheredresources, created a documentary, host an annual Maternal Mental Health Summit, facilitate a support group to help women, and participate in community events. Kassy’s Kause partners with other organizations to help families recognize the signs and symptoms of Perinatal Depression.
